Nobel Laureate Obama's Upcoming Global Challenges Concerning Iran and Afghanistan

If all disputes could be resolved by diplomacy...”what a wonderful world this could be”... This week the administration has two important foreign affairs matters to negotiate. Keep hoping and praying for the continued skill and vision which rendered Obama worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize. Under the circumstances, guarded optimism isn't such a futile thing as long as hope, actuality and growing momentum of constructive progress pervades from its needed spark. Resorting to violence, destruction and aggression seems a needless waste in contrast. There is something to be said about leading from a position of strength bui lt upon the input of skilled and trusted advisors, the sentiment of a democracy driven populus and ”proven” ethically driven global allies. That is what great leadership and exemplary statesmanship worthy of Nobel Laureates and Peace Prizes are really about. The more leaders employing these strategies, born of wisdom, foresight and negotiating prowess,.the better off the world. Maintaining such a center in the face of unspeakable atrocities and looming danger requires unfathomable courage, restraint and skill. That is s the stock and lot of worlds leaders, especially our President--the globe's and our nation's first black one. Opinions and passions of those whose safety and well being is entrusted to them and the great weight that mounts figuratively on their shoulders every second of each day must not be trivialized by shortsighted racial bias, fear of foreigners or political partisanship. Let's keep them and the situation lifted in prayer...

ACA Onward and Upward!

In the face of all the naysaying and political manuevering around the controversy generated from the ACA roll out, including recent Upton legislation passed by the Republican House and 39 Democrats, Obama strives in earnest to maintain his integrity. While forging solutions to unexpected glitches and logistics in implementation, supporters of Obama are committed to seeing this through believing Obamacare is worth fighting for. Ironing out the kinks might go a lot smoother if Republicans were not trying to neutralize the law at every turn. Long live Obamacare and all viable derivatives which may very well flow therefrom in the days ahead. Ironically,as a result of apparent Republican agenda to undermine the hard fought ACA victory. Republicans dont have a monopoly on creative solutions. Get busy Democrats and Republican supporters in the Senate.Guard the health insurance gateway to the future.

Truth-A Much Needed Offset in a Political Culture Beleaguered By Mendacity

Mr. President taking responsibility-though I believe you assumed more than your fair share of blame in the Affordable Care Act computer roll out-was the right thing to do. Leading by example up front  and forthright usually takes more strength and courage than leading dubiously in the shadows from behind. Besides leading from behind and in the shadows is a precarious position to occupy because it often invites equivocation and buck passing.

It seems the truth is not an option of choice in the political arena these days with Republicans who have done everything imaginable, even craft bold faced lies, to thwart the President and Democratic ideals at every turn in the media and on the floors of the Republican controlled House of Representatives. What is so difficult or forbidding about telling the truth even if it makes your opponent look good and you have to eat a measure of crow? Perhaps the same thing which a used car salesman envisions who is not so likely to sell a car which may have hidden defects? If only the car was put in tip top shape and no corners cut to make a fast sale in the first place, a full disclosure or a least an honest presentation could be made? In a political arena rife with intentional misguidance, puffery and gainsay it is refreshing to hear an influential leader speak the truth and not pass the responsibility on to someone else, something that could have easily been done in this instance.  For that, I commend and thank you.

A Speech to Morehouse Men

I was listening to President Obama's commencement address to Morehouse college given last Sunday,May 19, 2013. It was so real, so inspiring. I like the fact that he talked to them and not over them like numerous public officials do to the point of projecting stodginess and prioritizing decorum decorum over truth that keeps it real. With all the stresses and chaos involved in being President, particularly in light of recent events, it became clearer during that speech what he is truly made of, a quality which exudes from the Obama core. His quality of being 'present', down to earth and in the moment. And, he was the perfect one to give the address whether as a brother who made extraordinarily good or as first African American Commander in Chief. With all the stonewalling, dilatory tactics and filibusters he has experienced in office since the inception of politics in Washington, he still has time
